Superior Restaurant

8:38 - 9:08 am

Superior Diner in downtown Emmaus is fairly large from the outside. Upon entering, it almost looks like it's a house within a building. There is no better way to describe it other than a grand entrance to a home (you have to see it for yourself). What felt like a front desk had the hostess, and across from it was a table filled with business cards and advertisements for lots of different places. It felt a bit cheap and tacky to have them all there. While the look is a bit outdated, everything seemed solidly built with nice wooden chairs and tables. Not our taste in design, but not the worst we have seen. The interior is massive and they have the capacity to host events and such. There was a full bar inside, so you can go get lit while eating some diner food.

Our waitress was polite, but definitely over the top with trying to be funny and nice. She kept calling us “kids” and overshared (like her mom and sister were at the table next to us). The final straw was when we were making our grocery lists on our phone and the food came out. She said “Okay kids, put your toys away!”. Ma’am, relax. As much as we appreciate you trying to be nice or funny, it was over the top. Also, the average age inside was over 65, but that’s what happens when you go at 8:30 am on a Thursday.

Decaf coffee was ok. It was a solid cup, probably better than your average diner coffee, but not the best I've had. The water was not chlorinated. I got a bacon and egg breakfast wrap with cheese. The waitress warned me that it was small so I got a side of home fries with it which was not included in the price. Looking back, it is a little bit ridiculous that the wrap itself was as expensive as it was without a side. The wrap was fine (and small, just as the waitress said). The wrap felt a little dry and the egg honestly was a little bit dry too. The cheese was good and melty and the bacon was almost like crunchy bacon bits throughout it which was kind of nice. Overall it was not my favorite wrap. The home fries were okay. They had a nice brown crisp on the outside but then the inside was almost mushy like they had definitely been old or sitting on the grill for a while. It definitely needs salt and ketchup. I definitely have had better.

Oj was standard. For my eggs benedict, the hollandaise was probably some of the best I've had. It was very flavorful with good butter flavor and super thick. The egg was not very runny. The second one was maybe filled with water and kind of spit it all out everywhere (ew). The muffin and ham was pretty standard. Really forgettable but not in a bad way. The potatoes had a great crisp but a little mushy in the middle. I salted them without even tasting them and it needed it. Pretty mid overall.
