Hometown Breakfast Bar and Grill

Hometown Breakfast Bar and Grill is located at an extremely inconvenient location for anyone travelling westbound on Hamilton Boulevard in Breinigsville. If you are travelling eastbound, you lucky ducks get to pull right into the parking lot. Those coming westbound need to go down some back streets and around the block a few times to make it to the parking lot. It may be complicated, but the patience is worth it.
The actual restaurant has bar vibes, like you know its a popping place when the Eagles are on. There were a lot, like a lot, of workers there, mostly just standing around (from our observations) and all of them were dressed in Eagles gear, readying for the game later that day. We were led to the absolute back of the seating areas, practically running to catch up to our hostess. With the amount of televisions in the dining area, there was no bad seat in the house. The table did look like quite a few dice drinking games went down on it, just adding to the bar vibes.

The decaf coffee was okay. It didn’t have much flavor in it, not even a strong coffee flavor, so it didn't impress me. The sweetener packets were kind of hardened and crystallized on the inside, so either some moisture got in there or they have been sitting on the table for quite some time. The water was not chlorinated and actually really nice and refreshing. I got Poppop's Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast today because there was no wrap on the breakfast menu. Honestly, I really wanted pumpkin pancakes because I'm a basic b**** in the fall time. I got two eggs over medium, home fries, sausage patties, and the two pumpkin pancakes on the side. I don't know how it always works out that one egg is cooked perfectly and the other one still has runny whites but that keeps happening to me so maybe it's a me thing. Other than that, the eggs were great. The yolk was nice and runny and there were no crispy bits on the white, which I prefer. The home fries were fine. They didn't wow me, but they also weren't bad. They definitely needed salt and ketchup. I wish there were more crunchy bits because the crunchy bits were the best part. I really enjoyed the sausage patties. I had the choice of patties or links and I always go with patties because I don't always like the casing on the links (if there is casing). They were well cooked, well seasoned, and not too heavily spiced or anything, so overall really solid. The pumpkin pancakes were very good. They had a nice subtle pumpkin flavor. They were topped with like this cream cheese drizzle and some sort of pecan crumble thing. There was a lot going on, but all good. You could also add regular syrup and this like whipped cinnamon butter but honestly it didn't need those because there was enough happening as it is. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough of the cream cheese drizzle so it got a little dry towards the end. The pancakes themselves lacked structural integrity. I don't know any other way to describe it like they just kind of fell apart and I don't know if it was a good or bad thing.

Again, another diner asked if I wanted a small or regular OJ. Maybe I'm looking petite in my old age. Of course I got a large. I decided on getting a little fancy and getting the double bacon (with Canadian and regular bacon) benedict. It was honestly really solid. The Canadian bacon was very thick which had me a little nervous that it was going to be too much or chewy, but it wasn't. Along with the pretty crispy bacon, it was very pleasant. The egg was maybe a tad over done. The hollandaise was quite excellent and it tied it together very nicely.
Bethany and I disagreed on the quality of the home fries. I really enjoyed them. They had great flavor other than just oil like a lot of places. I didn't feel the need for salt or ketchup. They were soft and thin but you could still tell they were potatoes. It felt like there was a complex butter or seasoning flavor that is usually missing from diner home fries. I don’t know, maybe I was just really hungry but something about them just hit right.
I ate half of the pumpkin pancakes and while they were tasty and had good flavor, I wish the crumble on top was a bit crunchier. They are also a tad dry so I felt like I needed the syrup even though they had so much going on already.
