Hanover Eatery

Setting the Scene
Not far north of Route 22 sits a yummy eatery on Route 512. Hanover Eatery has a modern diner feel, complete with booths, a counter with seating, and the display case by the front door with sweet treats inside. This visit was a special one, with special guests from the blog Everyday is a Weekend joining us for breakfast. The staff here were AMAZING; our guests were running late (due to a slight miscommunication) but they let us stay at the table and checked on us multiple times. The service was quick and friendly which always makes a place enjoyable to visit. The menu was very concise (shocking for a diner), which was appreciated. Everything on there seemed really delicious and Bethany had a tough time choosing something to eat (no wraps here). Hope you enjoy the extra reviews this week!

My pork roll, scrambled, American on a croissant was delicious, done perfectly. Hashbrowns were perfectly crisp. 4.5/5

My chorizo vegetable omelet was very good and just a little spicy. It took me back to a Cuban place we ate along Route 1 headed to Key West right at the end of the 7 mile bridge. The home fries were extra crispy good. I give this plate a 4.2 out of 5

The water was slightly chlorinated but somehow it didn't like take away from the overall taste of the water. Again, another water served with lemon (ooh fancy). Coffee was delicious. I added some french vanilla creamer (they also had hazelnut) which was a nice touch, but it didn't need the extra flavor to just be a really good cup of coffee. With no wraps on the menu, I got carnitas rancheros. It was carnitas (pulled pork), hash browns, cheddar cheese, onions, peppers, and tomatoes topped with two over medium eggs. Gosh it was yummy. Veggies were basically raw, but to steal Ben's trademark, it's not a complaintâ„¢. The eggs were perfectly cooked with super runny yolk and none of the nasty crispy whites on the edge. Salsa was on the side and it was a great addition. It definitely needed some sauce; without the salsa it would have been a bit dry. My only complaint is that there was one fatty piece of carnitas. That's okay though because according to Ben fats equals flavor so I just gave that piece to him.

As a sweet finish, we ordered French toast for the table. Shockingly, the French toast was very good. They were big slices with a great crisp from the flat top. It reminded me of Butter Valley's cinnamon swirl French toast but without the cinnamon or the swirl. They were super buttery and the syrup had great flavor too. I don't know what it was, but man it was yummy.

The orange juice is pretty good and standard. The hollandaise sauce was broken which is a big bummer. It was still pretty tasty but it was pretty oily because it was broken. The ham was thin but it did have a couple little chewy bits which threw me off. The English muffin was unremarkable, not surprising. The egg was cooked well and got yolk everywhere which is perfect. The hash browns were very good. They had an excellent crisp on them and they just had a good texture. They were a big clump of shredded potato, but not in a bad way. Seasoned well and didn't need any salt or anything.
