Every Day Is A Weekend Diner

We pull up to this residential diner off the beaten path. We knew exactly where to go since we’ve been here numerous times before. There was ample parking and no wait. The table we sat at was very large for a table of 2 (I guess technically 4 if you count the chef and the owner that joined us). The lighting was fantastic since we got a good table in the solarium. Bonus points for the restaurant providing snacks and pets for our dog.

This breakfast was a special one because we have eaten at the Every Day is a Weekend Diner many times before, however the breakfast menu was a new one. After a request, the chef decided to change up his normal eggs benedict to add scrapple as the meat (brilliant idea I know, courtesy of me). The eggs benedict was absolutely delicious. The chef does my poached egg for extra long (because I’m not about the goopy egg whites) but the yolk was still runny and the sauce was super creamy and luscious. I preferred the scrapple to the regular ham. Not that there was anything wrong with the ham, it is just ham. The scrapple was thinly sliced and super crispy on the outside while still creamy in the middle. While there were no homefries (big bummer), this was one of the best eggs benedict I have ever eaten.

In addition to the benedict, we had some cinnamon roll casserole from Costco. We had it in our freezer for quite some time (after sampling it and impulse buying) waiting for a special occasion to make it. I have to say I was impressed by this frozen product. Costco knows what’s up. It was super gooey and soft, but not too sweet. I ate way too much and got a belly ache. Definitely worth every calorie.

This is somehow the first time I’m trying a scapple eggs benedict which is surprising because I love both of those things. If I had visited a place that had it, I would have ordered it by now. The chef really knows how to make scrapple crispy and delicious which I think added to the overall benedict. The egg was nice and runny and the english muffin was standardly good. The chef had me help by toasting the english muffins - it was my first time having to get my hands dirty in a review. I can’t complain too much though since the meal was free of charge. The hollandaise was lighter than most I try. It is Knorr’s and I definitely have a soft spot for the taste since I’ve had this one so many times. The unlimited orange juice was nice and low on pulp. We had such great company that we stayed all day.
