Chris' Family Restaurant

Chris' Family Restaurant

Setting the Scene

Only after a third visit have we finally come around to reviewing Chris's family restaurant. Although it is not named a diner, the food and the atmosphere are very reflective of that name. The interior is much more up-to-date than your average diner, with a lovely green and brown color scheme with wood accents. The big windows surrounding the whole building provide a wonderful view of the gas station next door and the hotel across the street. All jokes aside, the windows are actually a lovely feature.

Our order: a classic. Ben with OJ and some eggs benny and Bethany with decaf, water, and a breakfast burrito.

Side note: While the service at Chris’s is always quick, it is not always friendly. This time however, we had a super sweet waitress taking care of our table. When she delivered the food, she was a little worked up because of something her manager had said to her. We just wanted to say that she was lovely and friendly and we appreciate her service.

Bethany

Chris's has some of the best diner coffee that I have had to date. However, their water is chlorinated and they hand out paper straws which is sad. I have now had their breakfast burrito multiple times, and it still reigns supreme as one of my favorite breakfast wraps available. It comes with sausage in it, but the first time I ordered it the sausage tasted off. From then on, I ask for it without sausage, and the lack of meat does not take away from the deliciousness of the wrap with the egg, cheese, and vegetables inside. Chris's breakfast potatoes are also delicious. I like to get them well done but honestly they're crispy enough without asking. I just prefer if they have a little bit more salt on them because without it they are a bit bland.
As a bonus, we got cinnamon swirl French toast. Although no longer open, Butter Valley Golf Port will always have the best quality cinnamon swirl French toast, so we are always on the lookout for anything like it. Unfortunately, Chris's does not match that quality at all. The French toast itself was pretty good, but I think the batter for it was a little on the eggy side (not my favorite). It was supposed to come with a cinnamon flavored syrup, but I didn't get a lot of the cinnamon flavor. Overall it was just very okay-quality French toast.

Ben

The orange juice was a bit watery. I am basically Goldilocks; the OJ has to be the perfect balance of watery and concentrated, because too much of one or the other just does not cut it. The potatoes were fantastic. They had a great brown crust on them and were a little oily, not a complaint™. The eggs benedict was really solid overall. The egg is well cooked with the runny yolk and solid white, and the hollandaise is thick. They also give the right amount of hollandaise, not too much, not too little (again, Goldilocks). Overall, great breakfast.
